MEP engineering for a new city hall and town hall for the City of Del Mar. The city hall was approximately 9,500 SF and included a lobby, small conference area, and Sheriff/Ranger office space, and administrative space for City manager offices. The town hall included a public assembly space for community meetings/workshops, and a TV Studio. The design solutions provided a highly sustainable building. Plumbing systems were designed for water efficiency with low-flow fixtures and included elements such as instantaneous water heaters and separate piping for future use of reclaimed water for flushing and irrigation when available. Electrical systems were designed for energy efficiency with dimmable LED lighting that responds to daylighting and occupancy controls, electric vehicle charging stations and provisions for rooftop solar power.
