The AIA 2021/22 Design Awards recently honored The Miller Hull Partnership with a Merit Award for Architecture for the UCSD Center for Coastal Studies. Randall Lamb served as the MEP engineer. The renovation consisted of a 3-story, 11,000 SF facility with flexible and adaptive office/lab, conference and support space to suit research activities. Randall Lamb’s design scope included new HVAC equipment with chilled water pumps, boilers, heating hot water pumps, supply and exhaust and associated duct work and controls. Plumbing design consisted of new plumbing equipment, fixtures and piping to support the new restrooms, breakrooms/kitchenettes. The electrical design was comprised of new distribution equipment, lighting, ceiling fans and associated controls, along with receptacles, telecommunication outlets and power connections to support the mechanical and plumbing devices and equipment.
